GEOFF NORCOTT: IT'S OK TO CHANGE YOUR MINDDon't worry, Geoff hasn't suddenly become a raging Socialist.

But one consequence of Covid is that he, like many people, has had his most solid convictions challenged repeatedly by events.

In this audience comedy show Geoff considers a lot of long-held beliefs that have been challenged by a politically and culturally turbulent twelve months;. it's confusing to have a supposedly right-wing government locking us at home getting cheered on by large parts of the left and it's a lot harder to explain why you believe in a small state when the government is in the process of successfully rolling out a vaccine.

We've seen Remainers denounce the EU over vaccines and - weirdest of all - we have a popular conservative chancellor.

People ask Geoff if he regrets voting for a conservative govt, but looking at the casual attitude to debt, he now regrets not getting one.

As beliefs get challenged, statues fall and breakfast TV presenters get cancelled, Geoff pauses to take it all in.

This show will be an attempt to get to grips with what happens to convictions and ideology when a pandemic comes along and turns everything on its head.

RACHEL PARRIS: AUSTENSIBLY FEMINISTWould Elizabeth Bennet have been on the Women's March? Was Fanny Price sex-positive?How did Colonel Brandon fight the patriarchy? Was Mr Darcy woke?

Jane Austen is renowned for writing 6 novels that had a lasting impact on British literature. But if she was alive today, would she be waiting in line for Pussy Riot tickets, or running for political office in a paisley trouser suit? The women in her books showed a wide arena of womanhood: from the witty, intelligent and rational to hilariously dull, foolishly romantic and possibly insane. She wrote so many experiences of womanhood. But that was so long ago, and in such a different world. How do her books stand up to the feminist standards of today? Can we learn anything from them? And what would her blog have been called?

Rachel Parris is many things, amongst them 1. a fierce feminist 2. a Jane Austen geek. 3. A romantic. Those things don't always go together seamlessly. But maybe they can.

In a mix of live stand-up and adapted excerpts from the books (performed by guests), Parris presents an irreverent look at Austen the modern feminist, exploring themes of independence, money, fashion, marriage, sex and politics - now and in 1814. She'll see what we can gain from Austen's stories - and whether her characters really are the feminist icons they've been held up to be. And of course, answering the burning questions such as: ‘was Elizabeth Bennet more of a Jameela Jamil or a Kim Kardashian?’.

For this Radio 4 show, our audience will be online, so join us at 7.15 for a 7.30pm start on Monday 11th January 2021 and enjoy Rachel's show from the comfort of your own sofa, alone or with your household.

Although we have no details of further recordings of this show, if you would like to add your details to our mailing list here, we can email you with details of possible future recordings.

AUSTENTATIOUSAustentatious is the smash-hit improvised comedy show for BBC Radio 4, which brings to life a world premiere of an incredible ‘lost’ Jane Austen novel full of wit, flirtation and dastardly behaviour - all cooked up completely on the spot by the UK’s finest improv troupe. All the cast know is that they will perform a story in the style of Jane Austen, based on a title suggested by the studio audience. Be prepared for anything from 'Strictly Come Darcy' to 'Mansfield Shark'.

Austentatious are Cariad Lloyd (Griefcast), Andrew Hunter Murray (No Such Thing As A Fish), Rachel Parris (The Mash Report), Jo Morpurgo (Edinburgh Comedy Award nominee), Graham Dickson, Charlotte Gittins, Amy Cooke-Hodgson and Daniel Nils Roberts.

The show was recorded at The RADA Studios.

STUDIO B UNSCRIPTEDStudio B Unscripted records at the Al Jazeera English studios on the 16th floor of The Shard above London Bridge station in London to be broadcast globally on the Al Jazeera Network at a later date and this is your chance to both watch and participate in the making of a clever and compelling show, in an intimate setting with breathtaking views of London.

The show brings together two people, with two different life experiences and stories, in front of a small studio audience. Rather than focusing on what separates us, it focuses on what brings people together, or how we can tackle and discuss some of the big issues of our time in an intelligent manner. The conversation is interested in the intersections of activism, politics and art, music and protest, race, class, gender, identity, justice, ethics and power, climate change or whether we are going to be controlled by robots… No subject is off limits!

The show is unique as there won’t be a presenter and the guests will engage directly with each other and with the audience during the Q&A. If you have a question you would like to ask our guests about these topics, this could be your chance to make a mark on international television!

We are looking for people interested in global issues, politics, big themes such as race, identity, human rights, freedom of speech, etc and looking to build an inclusive audience with an international feel. Witness and take part in an interesting conversation!

THE TEZ O'CLOCK SHOWOne of the most exciting break out stars in British comedy, Tez Ilyas, has his own show, The Tez O’Clock Show, a late-night satirical comedy show… that is TRULY anti-establishment – it’s hosted by a northern working-class British-Asian-Muslim.

Comedian Tez Ilyas presents a fast-paced mix of stand-up, sketches and studio antics. Filmed in Manchester with a combination of comedians and celebrity guests, this hilarious and subversive show will blow the cobwebs off TV satire and prove once and for all that it’s possible to joke about anyone and anything without getting cancelled.

The show is a topical mix of sketches and studio antics, including provocative monologues and celebrity interviews.

Crashing into the studio show will be parodies, sketches and news bulletins from the Pakistani Broadcasting Corporation (PBC), starring Man Like Mobeen’s Guz Khan and comedian Sindhu Vee, which will provide a satirical take on the news and show Britain (and the West) in a very different light.

The studio show sees Tez take part in a briefing room – just like the ones that happened when he worked at the Home Office - on the hot topics of the day. Here he’ll be briefed by his fellow fast rising comics and Uncivil Servants, Sophie Willan and Adam Rowe, who will each try and sway him to their way of thinking.

He’ll then be joined by his co-anchor Sindhu Vee, in the on set shisha café, where they’ll be joined by funny, opinionated, big name guests.

There’ll even be a chance for some of our audience to weigh in on hot topics – so if you like shouting at the telly, then this could be your moment.

The series was filmed at Dock 10, Media City, Salford.

EXPLICABLE MEHosted by Suzi Ruffell, assisted by Ahir Shah, Explicable Me is a comedy entertainment show built around personality tests. Suzi welcomes two celebrity guests to the show, and Ahir administers our own bespoke, funny, slightly unusual personality tests to find out what drives them, what other people think of them, and what direction their moral compass is pointing. On Tuesday 21st January, Suzi's guests will be AJ Odudu & Tom Allen.

This BBC Radio 2 show will play host to some great stars, make you laugh and perhaps even make you reassess just who you are as a human.

The cooks with the most popular food will win, so the diners are an integral part of the show! They will be filmed as they taste samples, decide whose food to go for and, of course, as they eat their meal! Feedback from the diners helps determine which competitors will be whittled down over a series of heats to one victorious pair. All of the food is free and could be anything from Thai to pie, with lots to choose from in between.
